Eddie Floyd
Eddie Floyd may not come to mind when you think about soul legends but his song writing prowess shaped the sound coming out of R&B powerhouse, Stax Records. Teaming up with Steve Cropper, Booker T. Jones, and many other Stax artists, Floyd created hits for Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding and more. Almost every Stax artist you can think of, from early Carla Thomas to the final days of the label, Floyd wrote chart topping numbers. He wrote some killer numbers for himself as well.
